Program

A technical introdution to blockchain technology with reference to the Bitcoin blockchain as a foundational examples. Examples of programmable trust on a mainstream blockchain, e.g. Ethereum, Algorand or Tezos, and an exploration of a few key applications and open problems, such as the notion of decentralisation, stable coins, decentralised finance, central bank digital currencies, social good and privacy issues. The course is hands-on with some research questions that will be presented to students, who may further develop them, if of their interest. This module is rather self-contained and open to students with different backgrounds (with a basis of numeracy competence).
