About the PhD Program in Computer Science
Since 1982 the Dipartimento di Informatica of the Università di Torino has been active in promoting and organizing a Ph.D. program in Computer Science at the Università di Torino.
Since 1999 the Ph.D. program in Computer Science is run in conjunction with the Dipartimento di Informatica of the Università del Piemonte Orientale.
The PhD program in Computer Science covers a broad spectrum of ICT areas, from foundational aspects to their applications. Areas of interest include:
- artificial intelligence and human/machine interaction,
- databases, systems and computer architectures
- image processing and virtual/augmented reality
- languages, algorithms and models
The PhD program aims at training young researchers with solid competences in scientific investigation and in developing new technologies. The program is open to all students with a master degree and solid computer science competences. The duration is 3 years and involves the acquisition of 180 ECTSs (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS). Among them 30 ECTS are dedicated to training activities, while 150 ECTS are for research activities under the guidance of internal (and possibly industrial) tutors. International experiences and co-tutorship for joint degree programs are highly encouraged. For more details see Scientific and Complementary Training.
